Susan taught for many years before taking a complete change in direction and doing a degree in book arts at the London college of communication. She loves books, paper and ink and became increasingly drawn to old papers like maps and pattern prints. Her inspiration comes from the forms and textures of natural objects like shells and fungi.
Currently Susan makes memory keepers. These are books of envelopes for storing the objects we accumulate, like tickets scraps of material etc that hold memories for us and we might otherwise loose.
