Anna lives locally in Shoreham but travels along the coast everyday to her studio in Hove just a stones throw from the beach. Having trained and worked as a textile designer for many years, she changed discipline to mosaic art nearly 25 years ago.
Her distinctive work falls into two categories: mosaics made from brightly coloured tiles inspired by mid-century design. And mosaics with a nostalgic feel made using vintage crockery. This technique is called ‘Pique Assiesste’.
She takes time sourcing beautiful vintage crockery and creates mosaic items which are totally unique and always one-off. Turning old discarded plates and cups left at the back of the cupboard into new precious objects. Each piece of crockery or tile is expertly cut to shape and stuck to a base. The mosaics are then grouted with Anna’s
signature black grout.
