Summer in Full Swing at Shoreham Art Gallery
Shoreham Art Gallery continues to showcase a wonderful collection of original artworks to suit every taste and budget. This month’s article features resident artist Sarah Bidwell, who also serves as our Guest Artist Coordinator, Angela Evans, creator of the gallery’s engaging social media, and guest artist for August, Karolyn Mnich.
Sarah Bidwell
Local maker Sarah Bidwell creates a beautiful collection of handmade textile gifts that combine practicality with timeless style. Her framed textile artworks add warmth and character to any home, while her colourful glasses cases help protect precious sunglasses from scratches when on the go.
Sarah also makes fragrant lavender bags, perfect for keeping wardrobes fresh and helping to deter moths naturally. Each item is carefully handcrafted, making it a thoughtful gift for birthdays, celebrations or simply to brighten someone’s day. Easy to post and full of charm, Sarah’s unique creations are perfect for anyone who appreciates quality craftsmanship.
Angela Evans
Sussex ceramic artist Angela Evans turns everyday objects into charming works of art. Using casts taken from real fruits, vegetables and found objects, she creates colourful ceramic pieces that celebrate the beauty hidden in the ordinary.
Alongside her popular fruit and vegetable collection, Angela also crafts tiny ceramic snails and a range of quirky one-off creations inspired by nature, humour and the simple joy of noticing life’s small details. Each handmade piece is full of personality and designed to bring a smile to people’s faces, adding colour, character and a touch of whimsy to homes across the local community.
Karolyn Mnich
After a year away, printmaker Karolyn Mnich returns to the gallery as this month’s guest artist with a collection inspired by the beauty and character of Shoreham and the River Adur. Her exhibition captures the area’s rich wildlife, featuring the birds that visit the river, alongside scenes of people enjoying life on and around the water, and much-loved local landmarks unique to Shoreham.
The display includes lino prints, monoprints, paintings and wood engravings, showcasing both brand-new works and familiar favourites. Karolyn’s distinctive style beautifully celebrates the landscape, wildlife and community that make Shoreham such a special place.
Please do come and visit the gallery, we are open seven days a week, and a warm welcome will be waiting for you. The gallery is just down from the train station on the South side.
